in the dark

In The Dark is a remixed publication that focuses on analog horror. This story is seen through the eyes of the reader, speaking with an anonymous narrator that guides them through the narrative. This publication takes from the book called “The Blur of the Otherworldly”, which focuses on the intersection between paranoia and technology. I wanted to use the imagery to create my own fictional horror story, thus where I got my remixing materials from. In the Dark spotlights the fear of being left alone in the dark.

I designed this publication to almost feel somewhat nostalgic, so that my audience can remember what it feels like to be left alone in the dark. This narrative isn’t meant to have a clear start or finish, but it more so focuses on the feelings evoked throughout the story. The anonymous narrator adds uneasiness to the entire book, and how they keep popping up into the dark screens throughout gives the book the edge I wanted. Like I stated previously, there isn’t a resolution to this book, or a happy ending. It is meant to make readers sit and think and feel the paranoia and fear that they used to when they were younger. I decided to make this book 6x6 inches, as a play to how 6 indicates evil.
